Keyword Location...

Postby Duane » Sat Sep 27, 2008 10:25 pm

Hey Loz,

You mentioned in another post that when we display our ads, our URL should have our keword phrase behind our domain followed by a trailing slash in order to get a favorable Quality and Relevancy Score; for example, www.MyDomain.com/Keyword-Phrase. In contrast, I've seen on other forums that you should have your keyword IN FRONT of the Display URL; for example, Keyword-Phrase.MyDomain.com.

My question to you is, does it really matter? Would Google favor the URL with the keyword phrase in front of the domain MORE than having the keyword phrase behind the domain?

Thanks,
Duane

if your TLD already has the keyword in it, then there's no need, if it doesn't, sure, you could create a fake subdomain.

Hey Loz,

What is a TLD?

I'm not talking about making a subdomain... I'm just talking about putting the keyword in front of the domain in the Dispaly URL. Just curious to see if Google adds extra weight to an ad that display the keyword at the beginning of the display URL rather than at the end of it.

Thanks,
Duane

TLD, top level domain. ie, somedomain.com

you said to put the keyword at the front, to me that's creating a subdomain, ie

front.tld-ofdomain.com/back

I see what you're saying... but I'm not actually creating a subdomain, I'm using a subdomain format for my Display URL but my Destination URL is the standard Domain / Subdirectory...

For example:

Display URL: Insurance-Quotes.Insurance-USA.com

Destination URL: www.Insurance-USA.com/Insurance-Quotes

I'm just wondering if Google gives a higher relavancy and quality score to an ad that has the keyword in front of the URL.

it's just one element, but not solely based on that there are many other factors involved, you're probably worrying on something that is one hundredth of a percent that goes towards quality score.
