Am I doing something wrong?

Postby Mehmet » Wed Oct 01, 2008 2:16 am

I have been working on my site for seven months now and trying to rank for my main keyword registry cleaner. I am submitting articles, forum posting, blog posting, linkvana, and getting backlinks etc. My site was ranked 7 (google) in july. But in august I was at holiday and couldn't work at all. So I didn't get any links. I came back in september. My site first went down to page 3 in google for my main keyword. And I have lost places for other keywords I was ranking for.

I started to work on the site when I came back. Getting links every day but now I am in page 4 in google. My competition are not doing any SEO.

It seems impossible to rank for #1 for the keyword. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what the problem is.

My site is http://www.registryheal.com.

I'm having exactly the same problem. What i'm going to try is the following (which is what I should be doing anyway).. when I write articles, I am going to start each paragraph, and end each paragraph with my keywords, or related keywords. Hopefully this will increase the proximity, and add more weight to each backlink.

I have also just done the same with my homepage. I have quite a bit of wording on my main page, so I have re-jigged it so that my main keywords are at the start and near the end of a few of the paragraphs.

It's a funny old game this SEO lark, and very frustrating. Keep at it, or think outside the box, and maybe look at making a few changes to how you do things, like which I have just done.

What is the url of your webiste? So I can have a look.

Good luck with it!

ok, just a few things I noticed by looking at your source code for a minute. You could do the following...........

1) Remove your hard breaks </br> and replace with </p>.

2) Layout your page using divs and CSS, insteads of tables. I believe tables for layout is getting phased out.

3) Change your title tag, to remove the downpipes and use either commas, or a different format. Also, I wouldn't have the word RegCure at the from of your title. Instead have the words Registry Cleaner at the front.

4) I don't think you need the 'revisit every 30 days' in your header.

5) Also, you haven't applied the title tag to your onpage links and header tags.

6) You do not have any H1 or H2 tags in place.

I will have a better look when I get a little more time.

Thanks for the tips Andy. I didn't think of the onpage factors.

I have a friend who is good at SEO and is helping me with the site. I have asked him, about onpage but he says it is not so important for rankings. That I would try to get links and sooner or later I will rank higher. But I don't think that is the case.

I am going to look at your advice and do the changes...

Maybe Loz has something to say about it also?

Yes, alot of what I learn is from Loz. The onpage factors are very important. At the end of the day, it is the quality and access of your site that Google is bothered about. Offpage is all about votes to your site which is the main thing, but in my opinion, onpage is a a good chunk of how you rank. Also, the more content your site has, the better.

Yes I you are right Andy, onpage factors should be important. I have alot of content at the site..lot of articles and everything is organized. And I am adding more articles to the site and post to the blog and ping everyday. Maybe the problem is that my onpage is not so perfect.

I take it that your articles are unique? With regards to the ones on your site. I haven't looked yet, but are you linking these articles up in a contextual fashion?

Yes they are unique and I think I am linking them up in a contextual manner.

Here is my article page and it is linked from homepage :http://www.registryheal.com/articles/computer-articles.html

Andy some questions

4) I don't think you need the 'revisit every 30 days' in your header.

You mean that I shall remove this

<meta name="revisit-after" content="30 days">

5) Also, you haven't applied the title tag to your onpage links and header tags.

I didn't understand this so much but do you mean that I don't have my title words in the header (I don't have registry cleaner in the header) and the links on the page, you mean like having regcure registry cleaner download instead of just download?
