Since Google got rid of the supplemental index and replaced it with their approach of showing only 2 pages from each domain in the search results, is it still important to submit unique articles to all these sites in APR?

I don't see any reference stating that only two pages are shown of a person's site for a query.

As always, content is king, but unique content is the ultimate winner in every situation.

yeah, the two results was from a different article, not sure which one (I've been digging around a lot trying to get a straight answer). I was also reading the post below and it says that content that is syndicated should have a link back to the original. Does that mean it would be worthwhile to include a link back to either the article on our site?

A long time ago I was still able to rank for duplicate content, only by the fact that links were pointing to it.

First rule of SEO, don't just post an article to article directories, it doesn't work as effectively as it does pointing links to those articles, as that too without pointing links to your website articles, you will not rank as well as if you did, on the same note, the higher your other articles rank, the higher your main article ranks.
