My First Newbie Banner LOL

Postby DOUBLK on Sun Jan 20, 2008 12:47 am

Well here it is after about 8 attempts my first page Anxiety and Panic Attack SymptomsIt has come a far way though since i learned about the css properties which I am regularly typing myself as well as inserting tables - Loz you know that b/c couldnt figure that out at all - of course this page still needs work. My banner I know is not great but I can't tell you how many times i redid this. I can't get to type where the menu should be but (I left this on a previous post) By anyway, since before the videos this would have never been possible - so thank you Loz I will keep trying, I know the other pages that are linked on the index page are not done with header This took me All day again - lol My saturday night too!! Well I enjoyed it anyway and I have learned so much since the seo cluster group and the VGTP so again thanks Loz Any advice would be great BTW Don't laugh at it LOL

Hey Krista, that banner looks ok. Seriously, after 8 attempts, it's awesome.

I can't tell you how many times I've redone things over the years, but put it this way, it's more than 1000 times. :) Practice makes perfect.

I'm not sure if it shows your end, but there's a couple of white lines, these are gaps in the table cells. What ya need to do is one of two things

a) place the cursor just over the line of the table row cell and click mouse button and push up so it resizes the table row cell.
b) place cursor over table cell, delete one image, and find the height of that image, then enter the size in the area that says "H" in the properties section at the bottom of dreamweaver. This will resize the table row cell for you, then re-enter the image in that table row. Do this for all 3 table row cells and place the images back in, hopefully that will make the banner look whole, rather than split up as it looks on my Firefox browser.

Also, another tip.. the menu section you have just under the banner, these are generally about 15-25 pixels in height, it seems you didn't pre-measure the shape before hand and free drew the rectangle.

I tell ya what, I'll create some videos on little areas like these, ie, a dissected video of creating a website so it's not a site from A - Z, but elements of a site. Would this be better so people can just concentrate on one section at a time. :)

p.s
I've done your website for asset protection for you. I was a little busy the other day and hadn't got around to uploading the videos and sending you the website files. I'll do that later in the day. :)

Again, good work, keep it up. :)

Hello LOz AND ALL, Thanks so much for the advice as well as for the confidence booster- I know the menu itself is out of whack and I did what you have suggested a few times but maybe I didnt save it or something - I am intending to re-do it over again so it eventually will be perfect I hope - Practice makes perfect like you said - I will keep you posted on my progress - the vids you suggest would be perfect - sometimes its is just a little task or something smaller than the big pic that I havent yet learned to do so the smaller more specfic vid for certain parts would be great !!! Thank you for doing my asset pro site your awesome - take your time and when its done its done - I m not going anywhere so... I have off thurs this week so I will be doing somemore work and will forward my progress on to the group- Has anyone else created there first banner or site Id be curious to check them out!!!! Thanks again- talk to you later

all the best K

No worries,

I've uploaded the videos to the members area, you're yet to go in there and check them out. :)

Did you get the members area login info a few weeks ago?

Also I got the menu backgrd done thanks I remeber seeing that in the vid but I thought you were just showing us another way of putting the image or backgrd in the table - just goes to show you i should follow all directions - here is my new banner - all little improved thanks to you - still room for improvement - like how you did my asset site in 20min- damn your good - thats mt goal - i play aroungd for hours but i guess thats how u learn - check it out now Anxiety and Panic Attack symptoms I added some background colors as to cover the screw ups- lol BTW I orginally had a border around the whole site which i did through adding a css property the property is still in the css file but I can't seem to get the border back ?? any suggestions - Have you ever had a prob going to goclick? I ahve an account and fuinded but I seem to always have a prob when i try to go there i sometimes get thie error message " Internet Explorer cannot open this page" ? Just curious if it was something everyone else has had or not??? Sorry so many quastions All the best - advice always accepted lol K

Yup, download them would be better. :) Not all of them, only the ones you don't have. :) and download the template too, and place the other files you downloaded, that huge one file you downloaded weeks ago, and place them in the template folder as noted on the page. The template will look like the members area, that way you can view them on your pc. :)

Yup, banner looks AWESOME. :) Well done...

K, first thing I would suggest, make the height of it smaller, it should be no larger than 300 pixels in height. That includes the height of the menu system.
So, banner should be like, 800x200... and menu system should be 800x25 or 800x30. Then the ads will be more prominent and in the viewers eyes first before they have to scroll down.

Also, make the advert on it's own in the middle of the page, the link color url needs to be the same color. also bring the other text below the ad up higher so they are exactly spaced in height like the adverts.

What you have done there is you added each link to your other articles on a new row, I don't recall mentioning to do that... we used bullet points. take a look again at the vids, these show the onpage optimization techniques. :)

You're almost there sweetie, 85% or so... A- Grade. :)

Keep up the good work. :)

regarding goclick, read the newsletter in the members area. :) that's where I keep the updates.
