Web Site Linking Strategies
There's many ways you can go about this.
- One-way Back Linking
- Two-Way Back Linking; also known as reciprocal linking
- Three Way Back Linking; also known as triangular linking
One Way Back Linking
This is the far best method, ignore what you have heard before about reciprocal linking. A lot of it is misunderstood.
Let's look at it this way; especially with Google, as you can probably tell that Google is one of the hardest ones to rank in - personally I do not find it a problem, MSN and Yahoo I have a little bit of a tough time with to get the results as quickly as I do with Google.
Any way, Google is forever trying to work out a way to stop the manipulators out there, and one of the ways is to not give reciprocal linking that much power. It's very easy for Google to stop the cheating in this regard.
One way Back Linking isn't, there are too many variables to consider that even the top 50 or so hired Phd Google staff that can not work out.
Stick with this method always where possible.

And that's just some of the ways.
Two-Way Back Linking; also known as reciprocal linking
I'm sure to all those who are starting out in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) that one feels that this is what we should do.
Ok, sure, it doesn't hurt, but it's very time consuming and your ranking results can be hurt by this. For instance, I'm sure you've had to check your back link results of those you sought reciprocal linking from right? And got really ticked off when they removed your link or you can't find the link when they say they have added it to their web site.
These are the main problems of why many people do not rank well for a keyword, some call Google "GoOfy" because one minute you're ranking highly for a keyword, then the next you're no where to be found or you've dropped a few spots or lost your page 1 ranking. One of the main reasons here is that Google and other search engines are continuously updating their cached servers for new and updated content. The chances are that your link on a site no longer is there, or other web sites out there have more links than you or their on-page optimization is far much better than yours. Or worst they have more related links on other people's sites than you do.
But there are ways to get around this and that's by setting up your very own linking network where all your domains are on unique IP addresses
Three Way Back Linking; also known as triangular linking
Really no different from One Way Back Linking, except that you have to find these people that will perform one of these.
3 way back linking is really where Site A links to Site B, and Site B links to Site C. You need to be careful here that the IP address on any of these sites are all different, if they're not, the search engines will pick this up and penalize you in the sense that you will not get the keyword weight you are looking for.
This method is also time consuming just like that of reciprocal linking. When you're doing Search Engine Optimization you want to minimize your time 100 fold right? You don't want to check to see if these sites are still got your links on them. I will assure you that most of these places will end up taking your link off their site, while your Site A, or B or C still has a link of theirs on it.
One possible way to ensure, or probably ensure that this link stays on their site is by swapping articles. The benefit of this is they get more content, so you do, and should they have Google Adsense Ads on their pages chances are they are going to make money from your article as well.
