My sites are jumping about the rankings..

Let us know about how you were effected when Google did its last dance, maybe someone can help you steer clear of losing your previously ranked positions for your keywords or phrases

I have no idea what is happening to one of my sites. It has now moved down to page 16. I have done everything that I should have done. I've submitted well written blog comments, manually spun articles and submitted to some article directories, varied my anchor text etc etc and the site has gone from page 2, right back down to page 16?!? I'm stumped. I'm being consistant.

I'm just suprised, as some sites on page 16 are not even related to promotional products, or don not even have any anchor text links pointing to them for promotional products. :(

Any ideas?

IMO you need more content on your site for a better ranking.

Content means TEXT, pages,...

Avoid terms like "We will soon be launching" "Please check back soon" I'm not sure but I read that somewhere that the googlebot might translate it as "this website is in beta-testing, why would I send surfers to this site?"

As you don't have plenty of text on each page, Google can easily consider each page as duplicate.

Add more valuable content on your website. If possible, replace an external link by a new page on your site. Avoid frames. It's hard to rank with frames.

Add rss feeds, articles reviews,.. I just check one page with KE and your KW density is too low

Just a few hints ;)

Thanks for your reply. I still can't understand why it has recently gone from page nowhere to page 2 then went right back down again. I agree about the content side of things though. The site will be getting re-done shortly, but I will add some content before hand anyway to see if that helps. Interesting point about the 'coming soon' kind of terms. Makes sense. Especially on a site that isn't content rich.

Which keywords were you referring too with regards to the low KD? I thought about 4% ish was a good figure?

Thanks for your advice.

Andy :)

Not necessarily, Keyword density can range from 1-5%

When you use KE, forget which project off hand, but there's a section there that shows you what the KD is for those in the top 10. Most aren't even at the 4% range, it's a lot lower.

Try expanding your linking, don't keep using the same places, try more, there's hundreds of sites out there to choose from. If worse comes to worse, set up a network of your own sites. Only costs $6.99 from 1and1.com :)

I'm getting a little dis-heartened now. :( My sites / pages just seem to be dropping away. No matter how persistant I am with submitting articles, blog posts etc my sites are just slowly dropping away. My main keyword on my hair site is slowly dropping down page 2... one of my pages on my promotional site was top of page 2 nearly onto page one, as soon I as have started getting a few back links, it has gone right down to page 12??!? Isn't SEO meant to increase your sites rankings?

Whatever I seem to be doing at the minute, it just appears that I am damaging my rankings. Probs better off leaving them to rank naturally. Gutted.

Patience my dear Watson. :)

As soon as those pages are indexed, your rankings will increase..

send me a PM of where you got your links so I can see how you're actually getting them, it's a bit hard to see or give you advice on what could be the cause of the problem.

Haha.. ok Holmes. I created two projects last night and submitted to about 50 article directories. I spun the article (macros) manually so every version of the article reads spot on from a human point of view. Loads of macros etc, with varying content... and the titles and description and author/anchor links are well spun and varied. This should help me a bit shouldn't it?

I am going to add more content to the sites soon and rebuilt the promotional one too shortly-ish. That should help a bit too.

If I don't see an improvement soon, I'll send over details of what I have done then. It may be that I am not setting up the spun articles the best way... but it is only early doors with APR so I haven't gave it chance for the articles to get indexed etc yet.

Thanks Loz.
